THE FINISHING OF FLAT (AND CURVED) GLASS PLATES

by admin last modified 2008-09-20 18:58

The finishing gives particular effects to the glass: aesthetic (colouring, designs, etc.), functional(glazing/opaque effect, mirrors, protection from scratches, etc.) or a combination of both mentioned effects.
The application technologies are the following:
Roller coaters: highly homogeneous application, ideal for effects with reduced lacquer quantity application
Application by curtain coaters: maximum finishing quality and elevated lacquer quantities;
Automatic spraying machines: high flexibility (finishing levels and diversified effects, as well for curved glass). Quick colour change with minimum lacquer use;
Printing machines: for repetitive ornamental motifs or non, with the use of special transfer screen.

The used lacquers are:

  • Ceramic enamels: on glass to be tempered for maximum protection from scratches;
  • Solvent base or waterborne organic lacquers in order to obtain covering effects with high colour variability;
  • UV coats: in order to obtain maximum hardness and quick drying times;
  • Silicone coats

The curing technology is based on the use of in-line/transversal curing ovens with hot air ventilation, IR radiations, UV radiations or combined systems.
The handling of the glass plates or of the tailored glasses is horizontally performed by PVC coated rollers, ceramic rollers, Aramtex coated rollers, pivot rollers depending on the processing temperatures and the production flows.
